Hello Beautiful People!
I hope you are doing well. I’d like to start out by telling you about the upcoming shows for March:
I’m also pleased to announce new merch! Finally the Hoseff T-Shirts are ready and available in all sizes in both Black and White. $15 each or $20 for a shirt and a CD. Trust me – You’ll look like a pimp crusin’ around in your new shirt while blasting Modern Gypsies out of the thumpin’ system in your ride.
It’s been a busy year for me so far. I’ve been hard at work both writing new material and booking shows. I have a mini-tour coming up in June that I’ll be announcing soon. I’m very excited about it. I love touring! It’s great to both meet and play for new people.
Finally, I’d like to give a shout out to The Black Keys for their success last month at the Grammy’s. I’ve always said; “What’s good for the Keys is good for Akron.” I’d also like to send some love to Mumford and Sons. Their album, Babel, has become one of my desert island picks and since Modern Gypsies was strangely overlooked by the Academy, I’m glad that Album of the Year went to them.

I'm back from the last few gigs (for now) in the great city of London and I wanted to thank all that came along to sing, dance, support and congratulate me. There have been some awesome shows and it has been so good to be back on stage in the Motherland, playing to all you Geezers once again! The live side is going to take a bit of a rest for a while, but make no mistake, I shall be back soon!
A few new favourite tunes seemed to be popping up from the shows, so that is good to know, especailly as I am planning some new recordings in the very near future! Watch this space.
There will be some new Couch Session videos going up at some point, as I have a truck load of new songs, so new content will be available soon. I'm also hoping for a new music video to be completed and up online for all to see in the near future.
So, thanks again to those that came to the gigs, I hope you had as good a time as I did and new stuff coming real soon, beleive!
Forwards!!!

As you probably know by now, my song "Elephant Island" will be in the upcoming Brett Allen Smith movie, "Never", starring Zachary Booth and Zelda Williams. It was originally slated to debut at SXSW Film Festival and while the timing would have been excellent considering I was going to be playing SXSW already, we just heard we're going to have to wait. Projects of this scale often take longer than expected and this is no exception. The film just went into the final stages of post production and while they don't have a specific debut date yet, there is a possibility that it will debut in Seattle for SIFF. I'll keep you posted as new information comes out.
Kick Bricks took the stage at Grace Street Tap on a chilly Saturday night in early March and delivered 3 hours of rock, funk, hip-hop and reggae to the crowded house. There was a little something for everyone, as the band played a variety of classic covers, orginal tunes, and engaged in a fair amount of improvisation throughout the evening, which peaked when Sock Monkey made a rare public appearance and admirably held down J.B's spot for a while. Another great night!

Yeah, yeah, I know - Nick Cave and Tom Waits again.... nothing new from me exactly.
Spending lots of time with the new Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds record, research, you understand, to prepare for when he hits T.O. Push the Sky Away - is kind of on the quiet side for my taste - I was kinda hoping for way more loud. Check it out, see what ya think. BUT - watching the live from L.A. show on youtube was awesome, once they put the new album to bed and started doing the classics I was losing my mind with anticipation for when I get to see the show. Check out the finale below...
As for Tom Waits - I finally bought the live album Glitter and Doom - Live (Bonus Track Version) Fantastic performances and the 35 minutes of Tom Tales are hilarious and worth the price of the record. Definitely recommended!

And so the adventure begins. We had a crazy start to our tour since Yusif had a meeting in Seattle unitl 9pm on Monday night and we had to be at 50 Mason in San Francisco by 7pm Tuesday. That left us with two options for the 12 hour drive: 1) Leave Monday night and drive as far as we could, maybe the whole way or 2) Leave at 3am Tuesday and stress if we'll make it on time.
We chose the former and I took the first shift. I think excitement took over because I drove us straignt to California in 7.5 hours with two short stops for gas. Our tour car is pretty cozy with all our gear, but at least it sips the gasoline. Yusif and Sarah split the last leg to Oakland where we were greeted by an old friend of mine that I haven't seen in 10 years. She made us feel right at home and we promptly crashed out.
After some coffee and an incredible meal we were ready to do what we came to do. 50 Mason in downtown San Francisco would be the first gig of our 20-show tour. It was a Tuesday night, but surprisingly there was a great crowd and the reception was warm. We had a great dinner after the show with all our friends who came out and I have to say, my stomach muscles were sore today from all the laughing.
We're getting ready for our next show tonight in the East Bay at The Bistro and tomorrow we move further south. Stay tuned, as I'll be posting more photos and videos.

Click the Logo to listen to new music and instrumentals by O.Z Bangaz!

O.Z Bangaz was invited back to TCM Radio and the Gerald Montgomery Morning Show on February 7, 2013, to perform poetry. He did two pieces.
The first was entitled "When You Do What You've Done".The second piece was called "Sad Song".Once again the response was great. Gerald Montgomery even asked O.Z to recite a third piece for the road. O.Z did another rendition of "Eat the World".
O.Zs performance was not videotaped this time. However, feel free to look up the archived recording of the show at TCM.com. The first performance O.Z on the Gerald Montgomery Morning Show, took place on October 2012. You can watch or listen by clicking the news link of this site, and scrolling down to the video clip.

Opening the show will be the very talented Sonoma County band: The Whiskey Thieves.

It is hard to be in a position where you have to be a husband, father, manager, emplyee, commuter and a musician. All things that matter in life are hard to maintain. I can maintain some things while letting others fall or at least move to the back of my focus. So I keep trying to make music while still being one of many other titles. Of course the limitations rewuire that I do not focus too much. I have to share my time (and computer for equipment) with my family.
In some ways this made me feel bad about the music I am making. I can no longer make anything on audiotool because my flash player causes everything to sound glitchy. I also recently purchased a license to reaper for the very purpose of having a backup to audiotool. The fact is I do not know how long audiotool will be available, so I felt I should not leave it to chance. So I now make my music outside audiotool primarily - partially due to my flash problems and partially because I am enjoying workimg with other things.
This change has had the unfortunate consequence of me not being able to connect to others as much with my music. Fewer people check on my soundcloud account for new music and I get less feedback than I did making tracks on audiotool. I never liked the fact that I placed so much value on getting feedback for my music, but I now realize that if it is not experienced by others, then it is not meeting its purpose. The reason I continue to push myself to make better music is to make it better for my listeners. With fewer listeners, it is harder to push myself as hard.
I do not plan to stop, but I have noticed that I am feeling disconnected from the people I enjoyed listening to my music. Perhaps I can take the time to get my flash player working correctly again, but my priorities are not in fixing computer issues. I honestly hate computers! I work with one daily and deal with complex spreadsheets that drain the life out of me, so you may not be surprised to find out that I rarely want to have much to do with the computer when I get home from work.
I wrote this to continue my journaling about trying to make music and expand my audience. In some sense, I failed to really engage an audience with my music. On the other hand at least I tried. Now I am in a new chapter. A chapter where former listeners will not be as interested to listen to my music because it is not in the community they frequent. I will try to find more internal enjoyment from what I make as I will have fewer opportunities to release new high quality material.

The party that kicked off at the Grey Horse earlier this months, just seems to follow us around. It was another awesome night at O'Neill's Bar in York. Great crowd, some travelling out from Leeds, to whom we are truly grateful. The York crowd were also fantastic, a real nice set of people.
Jack depped very ably on the drums and we simply had a great evening.
Its the New Roscoe up next on Friday 8th March, this time to raise funds for Leeds Mencap, as well as extending the party a little longer!

Hey its Nuge yo! We're comin dangerously close to April 20th and the release of Vol.I WAR MACHINE and we can't fukin wait to bring this album to you all. Its really startin to become a mixed bag of emotions for myself and DJizzle, at times we're relieved to almost be done with the process and other times we're bummin out knowin that we will be leavin the Cave. That's ok we'll get back to that in a minute, like I said we're close, we have only very small things to finish up and its all over. Myself and Michael "Miggy" Rivera have taken Vol. I to the mountain sonically and with DJ and my own performances are nothin' short of immaculate, this album is unstoppable. Like I said we're all bummin out leavin the cave but we're stoked to bring the album to you all and to play it live in yur town. After the release of Vol.I WAR MACHINE we will be headin out on the road for the next year to promote the record on our first tour Vol.I TOUR MACHINE. We will be hittin every market that we possibly can to bring our brand of heavy music to everyone and anyone, none of this would be possible without all of you who have stuck with BLACKMASS through thick and thin and to a few special people who have allowed us to do what we love. These people are as follows - Pops and Gram Nugent, Hilly Rae, Miggy Rivera, and obviously FMIF Records. All of these people have been amazin and instrumental in lettin three scumbags realize what they have worked so long to achieve. March 1st the world will be able to bare witness to our long journey to April 20th 2013, with the release of the first trailer for our upcomin documentary Building The Machine "Cave Flood". We thank you all from the bottom of our collective chali and want you all to make it to Mojo 13 in Wilmington De. for those who cant make it we will be streamin the party live over the internet.
